Petitions From All Forms of Media Await SupCt Certiorari Decision
When the U.S. Supreme Court officially begins its new term on Oct.
6, among the numerous certiorari petitions before the justices are
several addressing legal issues arising in a multitude of media
settings, including motion pictures, the Internet, music, books, and
radio. The justices will also hear oral argument in a case involving

Senate Passes Bill to Ensure Constitutionality Of PTO Board Judges' Appointments, Rulings
On July 22, the U.S. Senate approved by unanimous consent a bill
effectively blocking challenges to rulings by Patent and Trademark
Office administrative judges whose appointment by the PTO director may
